Hydrology is the science concerned with the movement and distribution of surface and atmospheric water. In engineering practice, it deals with the flow of water in rivers, precipitation, inland water, and sometimes groundwater, and the conditions that influence them.
In the case of large outdoor facilities (e.g. solar parks, roads), it is essential to assess the expected hydrological conditions at the pre-design stage. Without this, the water management of the facility and the preparation for water damage cannot be planned responsibly. In view of the extreme weather conditions of recent years, be they sudden rainfall or flash floods, it is advisable to carry out a hydrological assessment for all projects covering large areas or located near surface water courses.
