The main function of this six-storey building in Reykavík's Mosfellsbær district is as a health care centre.
The building consists of two main parts. A two-storey block with a trapezoidal floor plan, which houses a health centre and rental premises, and a four-storey section of the building, which rises from the complex like a tower and functions as residential housing. The two-storey unit is mainly intended to provide health services, i.e. it contains a pharmacy and other commercial units, offices and a health service room. These have a total floor area of 3500 m2.
From this part rises a four-storey tower housing apartment blocks with a total floor area of 900 m2.
Structurally, the building is composed of monolithic reinforced concrete walls and slabs, and a combination of precast steel beams supported by a combination of precast steel beams and precast reinforced concrete circular prestressed concrete planks.
The building services design included the design of a radiant heating system, water supply ducting, air handler ventilation and roof fan extraction in the residential part. In addition, our office was also responsible for the design of the underground rainwater, wastewater, seepage system and parking lot drainage under the building and outside the building.
