Using the modular ORC power plant technology of the Swedish company Climeon, small power plants are being built at several sites in Iceland. As part of this long-term project, two Climeon units have been integrated in Reykholt to further utilise the residual heat capacity of an existing geothermal well, generating 300 kW of nominal electrical power to supply the municipality with energy while the existing heating system continues to operate.
